What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work. Others measure how a site is used, and some follow you around the internet to show you adverts. This site uses the first two kinds. It uses none of the third.

What this site uses

Essential. One cookie, jc_consent, which remembers whether you said yes or no so the banner does not reappear on every page. It lasts 180 days, holds nothing but your choice, and is exempt from consent under the ePrivacy rules because it exists only to honour your decision.

Analytics, only with your consent. If you press Allow, this site loads Google Analytics 4, which sets two cookies: _ga and _ga_9B7R2NEJQ5. They tell me which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from and which links get clicked. They expire after two years, or sooner if you delete them. IP addresses are anonymised before storage, and Google Consent Mode is set to deny storage until you agree. Google Analytics is run by Google LLC in the United States, so agreeing means your usage data is transferred there; that transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you press No thanks, none of it loads and no request is made to Google at all.

What this site never uses

No advertising pixels. No remarketing tags. No social media trackers. No cross-site tracking of any kind. If I run Google Ads for a client, that happens in the client's account and has nothing to do with your visit here.

Withdrawing consent

If you said yes and change your mind, reopen the cookie choice and press No thanks. The change takes effect immediately and the analytics cookies are deleted. You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time. If you said no, nothing was set in the first place.
